I’m still not sure quite what I’m doing with this blog. It started out as a diary of a spectacularly calorific trip to the USA (hence the name Food Binge). Now, ironically, I’m using it to keep a record of the mostly humble and vegetarian food I cook at home, along with any observations that I think the world needs to read.
I don’t have much of a food agenda. I’m not a vegetarian, but the wife is (kind of – she also eats fish), so I mostly eat vegetables, and I’m always on the lookout for interesting things to do with them. I’ve got nothing against eating local, fresh and organic food – indeed, that’s mostly what I buy – but sometimes the cheapest beans are flown in from Kenya. I sympathise with the slow food movement, real bread, micro-brew, organic food and so on, but I don’t really belong. I’m just on the lookout for cheap tasty food to cook on the weekends (that’s when it’s my turn), and I need to keep all the good recipes in one place. Let me know what you think!
