An Italian delicatessen opened near our house last week. They held a grand opening, with eager smiles, free wine, a selection of cheeses, meats, olives and home-made pizzas. Every Italian in Cork was there, it seemed, all twelve of them, swarthy and waving their arms while they talked, just like Italians are supposed to.
